Beechwood College offers tailored, person-centred education which focuses on developing skills and independence, improving wellbeing, and building community connections.
Each student follows an individualised, balanced and meaningful curriculum and associated programmes of activities, which promote appropriate access to differentiated areas of the curriculum.
Beyond formal classroom timetables, students are offered a diverse range of social and leisure opportunities, both on campus and out in the wider community.
Each student is encouraged and supported to go out and about as much as possible – cinema visits, bowling, trips to the local leisure centre, meals out or day trips to theme parks, shopping, hiking and even camping.

The Campus
For many of our students, coming to Beechwood College may be their first time living away from home. Our aim is to create living and learning environments that students and their families can be confident in; environments that are reassuring, safe, and homely.
Surrounded by beautiful grounds that overlook the seaside, our campus is designed to be autism-friendly, stimulating, and fun. Our main building is a cluster site with an internal garden courtyard, which houses our residential accommodation options, specialist classrooms, and wider campus facilities.
Our residential accommodation is split into 6 small, shared homes, designed to encourage community and enable students to experience normal college life with 24/7 support. Every student has a spacious bedroom which is personalised to suit their own tastes and interests, with a window either overlooking the sea, the open countryside, or our courtyard garden.
Each home features welcoming communal social spaces, and students are encouraged to use the kitchen and laundry areas to build their independent living skills.
The campus includes dedicated sensory rooms and quiet spaces for students who require a low-stimulus environment, as well as direct access to peaceful countryside and nature trails from the campus grounds.
We treat our entire campus as an active learning environment, with our grounds being home to:
- Art Room
- Horticulture Centre
- Vocational Centre
- Student-Led Shop
- Cwtch Snug Room
- Stargazer Platform
Our Vocational Centre also incorporates a separate ceramics studio and a carpentry workshop, encouraging students to explore their creativity and build craftmanship skills.
